Orthopodology

Orthopodology

Orthopodology is a rapidly growing branch of podiatry, dealing with deformities, congenital and acquired defects and post-traumatic defects within the musculoskeletal system. At VenaMed Medical Center, we diagnose and take preventive and therapeutic measures concerning the foot, ankle and knee joint as components of the musculoskeletal system.

Diagnosis and treatment with orthotics

The first visit to the orthopodologist includes an assessment of muscle tone, joint mobility and foot structure. We analyze the results of diagnostic tests, such as X-rays or ultrasound of the joints, including the spine. Using highly specialized diagnostic equipment, we evaluate the biomechanics of the lower extremities. With this holistic approach, we can quickly and accurately determine the appropriate treatment, including the selection of custom orthotics.

Orthotics referral:

After the diagnosis, we will help fit footwear, suggest a set of exercises and design individual orthotic insoles dedicated to your specific foot.

Centrum Medyczne VENAMED

How to prepare for a diagnostic visit to an Orthopodologist and what the examination includes:

  • Medical records: If you have diagnostic tests (X-rays, ultrasounds) on your feet or other joints, bring them with you.
  • Importance of tests: The results of the examination will provide a more accurate understanding of the problem in the entire musculoskeletal system and will guide the making of orthotics to eliminate problems not only in the feet, but also in other joints.
  • Footwear: When fitting orthopedic insoles, properly fitted footwear is important. Please bring 2-3 pairs of your favorite shoes with you. This way, after a few steps with your new orthotic insoles, you will feel a significant improvement in walking comfort.

Each patient will undergo a diagnostic examination, which includes:

  • Physiotherapy examination: Clinical assessment of musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Examination on PODOSCAN 2D Foot Cad: An advanced digital foot sole analysis tool. Obtain an instant 1:1 scale printout, assessing foot arched shape, toe valgus and toe splay angle.
  • 2D VIDEOGRAPHY: Full HD camera system taking photos and videos to analyze posture, including knee and foot valgus, as well as pelvic and shoulder asymmetry.
  • FreeMED platform: Assessment of foot loads at rest and walking, evaluation of balance and eye-hand coordination disorders, precise assessment of gait disorders.

Research results:

  • Accurate diagnosis: Foot structure, areas of excessive strain.
  • Optimal therapy and prevention: Precisely fitted orthotics or correction.

Orthopedic Insoles:

Each person’s feet are unique, and differences between the right and left foot are common. The orthopedic insoles at our clinic are custom-designed from scratch for each individual foot, making every shoe feel “tailor-made.”

The Role of Orthopedic Insoles:

  • Improve movement ergonomics: By correcting biomechanical dysfunctions, they relieve the longitudinal and transverse arch of the foot.
  • Reduce pain: Correcting the foot’s structure can significantly decrease back pain. The insoles provide optimal conditions for stabilizing foot muscles, reducing strain and fatigue in the lower limbs.
  • Provide relief: Especially in cases of existing foot deformities and abnormalities.

Our understanding of movement and specific disciplines allows us to cater to physically active individuals and athletes. Custom-designed orthopedic insoles tailored to the needs of various activities ensure the proper distribution of lower limb loads, minimizing the risk of joint, ligament, and tendon injuries.
